Report from Spain
eating Spanish tortilla, obsessing over Spanish fashion, recommending a trip to San Sebastián
¡Hola from España!
I’ve been reading many blogger’s weekly and monthly reports. So, I’m hopping on the bandwagon and sharing one with you all from Spain—what I’m eating to what I’m obsessing over. Because let’s be honest, we always want to know what the latest trends and happenings are in Europe. They are just so much cooler over here (I mean that).
• Throne of Glass series, the simple Spanish breakfast, a slower lifestyle & two practices you can implement, the Spanish woman’s style, a trip to San Sebastián, and a complete skincare routine •

I’m a series girl when it comes to reading. The more books in a story the better. If you are too then pick up the Throne of Glass series. It has kept me occupied during those long flights, contact naps, and breast feeding sessions. It’s fantasy series with a lot of action following a variety of characters plus a little smut. Also, the main character is a badass woman assassin. It’s the same author of the viral ACOTAR series—A Court of Thorns and Roses. However I think Throne of Glass is the better of the two! Also, reading on a kindle when traveling is a game changer (light weight + access to all the books)
| Eating |
Well let’s be honest I’m eating EVERYthing in sight over here. My pants are a little tighter and that’s okay. Here is my breakfast I have had each morning. Cafe con leche, zumo de naranja, y tortilla de patata. A simple yet delicious breakfast. Coffee + milk (1:1 ratio), fresh squeezed orange juice, and Spanish tortilla (eggs, onion, potatoes). If you’re curious and want more details on what I’m eating in Spain (breakfast, lunch, & dinner + drinks) I wrote about it!
Eat & Drink Like Spaniards
We are currently in Spain for the next 4 weeks visiting Lonny’s family. Therefore we will be eating like true Spaniard’s. The majority of our time will be spent in the province of Asturias. So I’ll be featuring dishes from the north. First let’s go grocery shopping!
| Practicing |
I’m practicing the Spanish way of life and I encourage you to partake in it as well. This means moving at a slower and intentional pace. Here are two ways you can implement the lifestyle. First, take an occasional siesta (nap) during the day. It doesn’t need to be an actual nap, but maybe a moment where you sit and relax. Pause. Allow yourself to fully stop. Pull out the book you’ve been meaning to start, finish the podcast you’re part way through, or just close your eyes. Second, sit down for dinner at the table with family or friends. Take your time eating. Savor each bite. Engage in meaningful conversation. These two practices will ease your anxiety and stress, help you be more present, and find gratitude in the small moments. <3
| Obsessing |
I am obsessing over the Spanish mom and her style. I wrote an entire post on How to Dress Like a Spanish mom.
How to Dress Like a Spanish Mom
This post is completely inspired by Jennifer Cook writer of Mom Friend & Lindsay Sword writer of Fashion Soup. They have observed the New York mom in each of their neighborhoods providing us with vital information we didn’t know we needed but nonetheless details we crave—how the moms are dressed along with thoughtful insights and key observations into their everyday lives.
The sweet and condensed version below:
These women are chic and sophisticated with each layer from head to toe thoughtfully put together. It doesn’t matter if she is grocery shopping, at the park with her kids, or grabbing a glass of wine, she is dressed with impeccable detail and class. Side note: the park is conveniently located where you can sip your vino and watch your children run around the playground. This is very common and not judged or frowned upon. We frequently spotted newborns asleep in their prams, while their parents casually enjoyed drinks and pinchos (snacks). A few trends I noticed —>
Monochromatic Look or Matching Sets - It looks expensive but not in a bragging way. It’s giving confidence and self-assuredness, as well as making a strong visual statement.
The Scarf & Jewelry - This subtle accessory takes your outfit up a notch—whether it’s tied around your neck, bag, or being worn in your hair. She cares about the details even the smaller ones. Also complementing their outfits with elegant yet cool statement pieces.
The Vest & Blazer - She’s going to the office, but not actually going to the office. It adds a touch of masculinity to her feminine persona.

I am here to tell you to visit San Sebastián, Spain. You know when you arrive somewhere and you have that aha moment—like am I meant to sell all my belongings back home and start a life here? Well, San Sebastián was that place for me! You have the ocean, greenery, mountains, gorgeous buildings, bike-able roads, and endless food/drinks. | Treating |
One thing that will always remain consistent wherever I go is my skincare routine. I’ve fully indulged in Sorella Apothecary products. It’s my morning and nightly treat, especially when I’m on vacay. Here’s a full breakdown of my skincare routine.
Besos,
Kate
Ok I already thought we were gonna be Substack friends based solely on your post titles and then I saw you reading TOG in Spain and it sealed the deal 🤌🏼
